 IAFF Legislative Conference March, 1999 Washington DC Firefighters from Locals all across the nation meet in Washington DC each year to lobby their elected representatives for enactments of laws that will provide for the safety and well being of firefighters, and advance the IAFF agenda. In 1999 and in the year 2000 these lobbying efforts will be especially important, because the Brotherhood of Firefighters is hoping to accomplish the passage of the Public Safety Employer-Employee Cooperation Act (HR 1093). Also important is the lobbying effort that will be carried forth to pass the F.I.R.E. Act which would create grants for Fire Departments.
