Members Gather in Central Park for the Union BBQ
Over one hundred Local
1171 Union members and their families met at Central Park on October 24th
for a delicious Union BBQ and play day. Many retired Brothers turned out
for an afternoon of good eatin' and socializing. Although it looked like
some pretty ominous rain clouds might threaten our good time, it turned
out to be a fantastic Fall day with cool temps and plenty of sunshine.
Thanks to B-Shift Vice
President J.D. Madden and his helpers for spearheading this event and
getting it back on track after a couple of missed years. We look forward
to more events like this one in the future.
Thanks
also to Brother Mike Ryan for putting together a raffle
that benefited the Santa Clara Firefighters Foundation. Mike said, "For
very little effort, we collected $327!" Brother
Trevor Cantanho won the grand prize of $163.50
and promptly donated it right back to the
Foundation! Now that's
Brotherhood in action!
