Firefighter's Regatta

FINAL UPDATE: Congratulations to all who participated in this worthy cause and great event! It was a huge success!!! Santa Clara boat had two victories on race day. We won 1st place in the 1000m row, and we also earned the highest donations for Stanford's Breast Cancer Research. We earned a total of $1290. The Trophy is on display at station 1. Rob, Jameson, the Walsh's, and everyone else on our boat did a wonderful job learning such a technique driven sport in such a short amount of time. I hope to see a full SCFD boat next year from each shift. The Los Gatos Rowing Club is trying to get firefighters interested in the sport, and are willing to set up a schedule for practices that works with our schedule. Several of the crews from other fire departments have already started training for next year. If anyone is interested in competing or recreational rowing let me know. Thanks again for all your support Brother Trevor Cantanho

How would you like to try a new sport, raise money for Stanford’s Breast Cancer Research Center and have a blast doing it? This is an exciting opportunity for all firefighters! The sport is “Crew” or “Rowing”! The place is Lexington Reservoir just outside of Los Gatos and the date is June 18.

The race will be followed by an awards ceremony to present winners with medals, including awards for those raising the most money,
and then a gala BBQ to be enjoyed with friends and family.

Your contact for this event is retired Brother Frank Walsh. Rumor has it that Brother Cantanho is already putting together a group of rowers, so if you're interested you better move fast before Trevor's boat crew fills up. You may have to start your own!
