The Senior Assist program is a mainstay of the Santa Clara City Firefighters Community Service programs. Coordinated by 1171 Executive Board member Bill Stone, the program seeks to help those senior citizens who may not have the resources to take care of a major yard clean-up project around their homes.
Local members were honored by Mayor Judy Nadler (1994-2002), shown here with Local 1171 Union members, when she requested the Firefighters assistance with the Mayor's "Raise the Roof" program. The Santa Clara City Council recognizes the Firefighters contribution to the Community and has issued a proclamation to Local 1171 which acknowledges the merit of the Senior Assist program. By the way, Mayor Nadler is invited to any Senior Assist project we do. She can really work!!
